The main heroes of this tragic story - a brilliant couple - an outstanding Dutch artist P. S. Krøyer, a hope of European art of the end of the XIXth century and his beautiful wife Marie. They union seemed ideal and their life seemed to be a series of endless receptions and entertainment. But behind the gloss there was a real drama. Suffering from a heavy mental disease Krøyer could insult his spouse at any moment. Family life became real hell for Marie and it seemed to have no end. But once she met new love.
