Aiyyaa marks the come back of Rani Mukerji after a short break and this time she is not any kind of typecast glamorous doll, but she is making her comeback by enacting a de-glam role of a Marathi mulgi.
Directed by Sachin Kundalkar, Aiyyaa features Rani Mukerji and Malayalam star Prithviraj Sukumaran in leads roles. In the film, Rani plays the role of Meenakshi, who is simple but crazy Maharashtrian girl, and is geared up to get married at her family's command, but just can't stop dreaming about a fantasy world.
While Rani is enacting the character of a Marathi mulgi Meenakshi, Prithviraj enacts the character of a handsome hunk Tamil student.
